The Pipe Engineering Committee informs

On April 29, 2020, new versions of SSG's piping class standards were published. The new editions are adapted to the new EU directive PED 2014/68/EU, implemented in the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulation AFS 2016:1.
Many of the standards have also been merged, based on dimension, pressure class and welding factor. This is to simplify the use of the standards. Many of the previous standards have also been withdrawn due to the merger. Here you can read more about the changes that have been made. 

The Pipe Engineering Committee is responsible for standardisation and research in the field of pipeline systems and pressure vessels.

Search SSG Standards

The SSG Pipe Engineering Committee was launched in 1971. It works with standardisation and researches new services relating to pipeline systems and pressurised devices. The work environment, reliability and maintenance are important criteria involved in this work. The committee regularly detects the needs of industry in respect of pipeline systems and pressurised devices, and it also works with business intelligence, network building and knowledge exchange. The committee is also working to increase awareness and market relevant standards and associated services.

SSG’s pipeline standards meet the requirements of applicable directives and regulations with regard to pressurised devices, which means that clients, suppliers and manufacturers can feel secure in their selection of components. SSG’s pipeline standards have a certificate of compliance which was issued by Kiwa Inspecta (certificate number 20-1013779-100).

Current projects in the Pipe Engineering Committee

  • Working group R6: 2 – Components
    Working group R6:2 is currently working on SSG's standards for blind and loose flanges. We collect information from all pressure classes to one standard for blind flanges, SSG 7380E, and one standard for loose flanges, SSG 7480E. At the same time, we update references to other standards and update the appearance of the standard.
  • Working group R6: 3 – Fittings
    SSG's standards for steam traps are being converted into guides with the same numbering, SSG 7525E and 7527E. We also update the appearance of the guides.
  • Working group R9 – Technical regulations for contracts
    SSG 2230E, 7640E, 7645E and 7903E are reviewed due to their age. In the new editions, the standards are updated with references to current regulations and harmonized standards. Their appearance is also reviewed.

During the last quarter of 2020, the committee will start up two new working groups:

  • Working group R9: 2 – GAP
    In the new editions of SSG's standards for GAP, they are updated and supplemented to be adapted to Plastic Pipeline Standards 2018. SSG's standards for GAP are also adapted to the PED directive 2014/68/EU implemented in AFS 2016:1 and AFS 2017:3.
  • Working group R9: 3 – Journal for remaining service life
    The purpose of the project is to update and supplement SSG's standards for handling the remaining service life of pressurized equipment in class A or B, so that the user of the new edition can meet the control requirements in AFS 2017: 3.
