The Mechanical Engineering Committee is responsible for standardisation and research in the field of mechanical technology.
The Mechanical Engineering Committee came into being in 1971 and works with function oriented standards designed to provide cost-effective, quality-assured construction, renovation and extension projects. Major emphasis is placed on functional safety, personal safety and maintainability.
The tasks of the Mechanical Engineering Committee include raising awareness and distributing and adapting standards and new services in the field of mechanics. Its members actively monitor other companies’ needs and requirements and market the work of the committee. This results in standardised solutions to common problems, procurement and implementation support and coordination of information between clients and suppliers.
Every year, two to four projects are handled in different workgroups composed of persons from the process industry. In spring 2020, projects regarding SSG 1484E – Belt conveyors and SSG 3030E – Vibrations in rotating machinery will be completed. By the fall of 2020, projects are planned to start about SSG 3700E – Heating, ventilation and sanitation systems and SSG 3499E – Pneumatic plants.
