The Mechanical Engineering Committee is responsible for standardisation and research in the field of mechanical technology.
The Mechanical Engineering Committee came into being in 1971 and works with function oriented standards designed to provide cost-effective, quality-assured construction, renovation and extension projects. Major emphasis is placed on functional safety, personal safety and maintainability.
The tasks of the Mechanical Engineering Committee include raising awareness and distributing and adapting standards and new services in the field of mechanics. Its members actively monitor other companies’ needs and requirements and market the work of the committee. This results in standardised solutions to common problems, procurement and implementation support and coordination of information between clients and suppliers.
Project groups composed of people from the process industry are appointed to conduct various projects. Two to four workgroups are put together over the course of the year. The workgroups active at present are working with gaskets and a lubrication standard, while the next will work with processing of conveyor belts and pneumatic systems.
