In autumn 2019, a new factory in Mönsterås will be taken into operation by Södra Cell. The plant will be producing sustainable fuel from forest materials, and SSG’s surface protection standard has been used to support the initiative.
“It doesn’t matter what we build in our industrial environment, down the years we’ve learnt to use SSG’s surface protection standard as support from procurement to implementation,” says Lars Lundén, Project Manager at Södra Cell in Mönsterås.
Södra Cell is expanding its plant in Mönsterås and investing more than SEK 100 million in the production of biomethane, a sustainable fuel produced from forest materials. The plant is planned to start operations in autumn 2019 and aims to produce 5,000 tonnes of biomethane every year.
The SSG surface protection standard has been used in the construction process from procurement to implementation and control, reducing maintenance work and giving the plant a longer useful life as well as reduced maintenance costs.

This produces a better end result that requires less maintenance and gives us a plant with a good useful life,” says Lars Lundén, Project Manager at Södra Cell in Mönsterås.

“We’re trying to choose suppliers that we know have carried out work in this industry before. As we’re doing that, and thanks to the fact that we’ve been using SSG’s standards for many years, suppliers are aware of this and are very familiar with SSG,” says Lars Lundén.

“We’ll continue in future to use the various standards that exist within this industry. Our aim with these standards is that there should be no other choice from the very first stage in the process until we have a finished, installed product,” says Lars Lundén.
